SR. SYSTEMS ENGINEER/ARCHITECT

Concurrent, the worldwide leader of video-on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, is seeking an individual to join our award-winning development team. This position is with the Concurrent Systems/Software Architecture group. Engineers working in this group can be expected to contribute to the design, development and deployment of new products and services in the video-on-demand field. This position is ideal for senior level engineers seeking a position working with a team of high tech engineers utilizing leading edge technologies to develop new advanced products and services.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with various engineering and business groups to gather requirements to aid in the development of engineering design proposals for new video-on-demand software products, features, systems and networks.

Collaborate with a team of Software/Systems Architects in the design of new software products and systems and help to define overall Concurrent product(s) architectural roadmaps, standards and procedures.

Monitor, Research and Evaluate technology and/or industry trends, recommend and incorporate appropriate technologies into Concurrents products.

Analyze, understand customer needs, arrive at and serve as the custodian for functional requirements.

Create system architecture, logical models, design and/or interface specifications.

Facilitate technical discussions and achieve consensus about the system architecture and design.

Be expected to be a subject matter expert related to the systems currently deployed by Concurrent to aid in the design of new product and systems.

Work closely with development engineers by providing guidance in the design and integration and make sure that the implementations meet the functional requirements.

Have networking design expertise that can be applied to the development of advanced video-on-demand transport, caching and delivery networks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5-10 years in top level design and leadership experience with focus on large scale Enterprise architectures.
8-10 year of professional application development experience with exposure to multiple technologies and/or environments. To be considered a candidate must have had experience as a senior level software developer.
Proficiency in C# or C++, Real time transaction processing skills.
Model driven analysis and design skills a plus.
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, communication and presentation skills.

OPTIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge in TCP/IP and UDP/IP networks, routing, Ethernet and Transport protocols and layer 2 technologies
Knowledge of IPTV standards (RTSP, SIP, SDP, ICE).
Enterprise Storage Solutions.
Video & audio codecs (MPEG2/4, H.264, WM, AAC, G.711, etc.)
