As a Senior Application Performance Consultant you are part of the Akamai Professional Services team and will work to deliver projects for our customers. You will work independently or as part of small technical teams to evaluate Internet performance, enterprise web architectures and security requirements to deliver high performance solutions. You will analyze, debug and make recommendations for complex customer setups, field trials, performance and availability issues, including those that arise in pre-sales customer trials and post-sales customer escalations. You will monitor, test, and evaluate the end-to-end performance of Akamai large scale distributed systems, and develop and enhance the methodology, tools and best practices for performance assessment and recommendation deliverables. You will also identify new product features and additional sales opportunities during trials and integrations to product development and sales teams. * B.S in Computer Science or equivalent required. Advanced degree (M.S/Ph.D) a strong plus. * Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, measurement and data analysis (statistical) experience a strong plus. * Depth in networking principles and implementation, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, and SSL protocols * Experience with the principles of software development and design. * Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to work externally with customers and internally with Akamai business and development groups. * Must be action oriented, capable of solving complex technical problems independently and in a fast-paced team environment. * Must be willing to travel up to 20-30%.
