POSITION SUMMARY
As a senior member of the AP Technology Team, you will contribute to the architecture, design and development of our products and applications. The Database Architect will be responsible for working with other personnel within and outside the department to understand requirements and deliver database and reporting solutions based upon these requirements. The candidate will be involved in product and vendor selection as well as architecture and hands-on database, data warehouse and reporting solutions. Candidate will be responsible for day to day maintenance (backup, recovery, trending, tuning etc..) of production and staging database systems. In addition candidate will be responsible for developing ETL processes with various outsourced technology providers and perform ad-hoc queries on this data when required. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the VP of Engineering and CTO, to help define the technical product roadmap, feature set and the appropriate tools/technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Management of high availability Oracle and MYSql production and staging database systems (including clustering and replication)
· Implementation of ETL tools to allow for data extraction and integration with third party providers
· Design, product/vendor selection and implementation of data warehouse solutions
· Design, product/vendor selection and implementation of an enterprise reporting solution
· Tuning of existing SQL queries to improve system performance
· Set up and migration of various MYSql and Oracle databases
· Ad hoc query generation as requested
· Proactive security and associated patching of database systems
· Management and review of all new database schemas prior to implementation
· Proactive monitoring to identify and fix problems before they occur
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have had at least six+ years of experience
· Experience working with RDBMS (mySQL, SqlServer, Oracle)
· Database and data warehouse development and management experience with a proven proficiency in the following areas:
o Data Warehousing
o Expert level data models / schema modeling
o Enterprise reporting solutions / BI Tools
o Complex Ad-Hoc SQL queries
o Database management including backup, recover, replication and clustering
o Database tuning (including hardware/disk configuration and management)
o Linux/Windows management and understanding
· Experience building strong Business client relationship
· Strong leadership and communication skills
· Previous success building, mentoring and leading across-functional groups
· Needs to work well in a team environment and have effectiveness building teams
Additional desired qualifications include:
· An expert level understanding of database systems and management
· Sound knowledge of database design/modeling using industry standard tools
· Excellent problem solving skills
· Experience selecting and managing external vendors
· Good communication and documentation skills
· Advanced project planning, time management, and prioritization skills with mutli-tiered web development is a plus
· Willingness to play multiple roles and passion for building innovative products
· Experience working with onshore/offshore agencies a plus
COMPENSATION
A competitive compensation package will be offered to the successful candidate. The compensation package will include a base, bonus and equity.
