Senior Firmware Engineer
will be responsible for design and development of microcontroller firmware for RSA’s market-leading Strong Authentication product lines, which have set the industry benchmark for performance and quality. Responsibilities: Working in the hardware engineering team, design and develop strong authentication hardware products from concept to mass production. Specific product types may include one-time-password hardware authenticators, smart cards, and USB devices. Incorporate product and manufacturing requirements into firmware design. Design and develop firmware for hardware authenticators that involve low-power 4 and 8-bit microcontroller, smart-card chip, real-time clock, LCD display, battery, and USB interface. Analyze requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates, and work with the team to meet schedule milestones. Perform design tradeoffs, evaluation, and selection of microcontrollers to meet performance and cost goals. Interface with product management, program management, QA, documentation, manufacturing, customer support, suppliers and partners in the execution of projects. Identify and resolve firmware-related manufacturing and field problems. Experience: 5+ years experience designing and developing firmware for embedded products for the commercial marketplace. Experience with software development process in a team environment. Strong C-Language programming skills. Working knowledge of assembly language programming. Self motivated and hardworking. Organized, thorough, and detail-oriented. Able to drive issues to closure. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work within a team environment and work with people with diverse background. Project management skills and ability to drive aggressive schedule within the team and with suppliers. Ability to define multiple concepts with identified pros & cons to drive the best solution for the product. Ability to research new technologies and define their application to the products. Ability to perform design tradeoffs, evaluation, and selection of microcontrollers. Experience with crypto processors and smart-card chips/readers highly desired.
