Senior Manager, Transfer Pricing

Some of the world’s sharpest numbers minds come here, and it’s not just because they love living in the Pacific Northwest. It’s the challenge, scope, variety, and excitement of the work they’re privy to at Microsoft. They also like working with other smart people in a non-traditional environment where they can apply their creativity to explore new and better ways of doing things backed with the resources they need to do it. The Transfer Pricing Team is responsible for international tax planning and compliance, and we’re looking for a dynamic person to join our team. The successful candidate will work with the Transfer Pricing Team to plan, execute and document intercompany transactions involving broad exposure to Microsoft’s wide-ranging business arrangements. Responsibilities include:·  Developing documentation to meet US and foreign tax law requirements for approximately 90 countries. Involves updating legal entity functional analyses and economic models combining complex internal accounting data with external market benchmarks. The senior manager will be responsible for working with outside service providers where appropriate.·  Partnering with international accounting to improve, update and maintain automated systems for computing and settling intercompany payments to ensure statutory functional P&Ls remain in-sync with on-going business re-orgs and treasury objectives.·  Partnering with Law and Corporate Affairs on intercompany agreements to comply with internal controls, SEC and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.·  Some international travel required to meet with foreign country advisors to manage intercompany transactions and foreign country audits.·  Proven ability to learn new internal reporting systems and ability to manipulate large datasets (e.g. pivot tables or access databases)·  Work with business development groups on acquisition integration, transfer pricing risk management, and IP migration issues including working knowledge of intellectual property valuation techniques (e.g. FAS 141).·  Support special planning projects requiring ability to develop ad hoc financial models. Such models require working knowledge of the principles of corporate finance, discounting, risk management, and forecasting in dynamic technology markets.·  Ability to assess impact of transfer pricing policies on effective tax rate, including a good working knowledge of FAS 5 and FIN 48.·  Managing a small team of transfer pricing specialists who help make all of the above happen. Requirements: 7 years of transfer pricing experience and an advanced degree in Economics, MBA, Finance or Law. The Senior Manager of Transfer Pricing will report to an Economist Group Manager, but this position requires a highly motivated self-starter who can work without a lot of supervision and guidance. Also requires a proven ability to apply financial analysis to document complex financial transactions, and candidates must have demonstrated strong written and verbal skills.·  Position requires ability to be organized and handle a large number of deliverables on a complex, relatively inflexible schedule.·  Position requires ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.·  Position requires ability to understand inner-working of many business organizations and functions.·  Position requires ability to be detailed oriented • Strong Excel and Word proficiency required. This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this position. The actual duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may vary based on assignment or group. Microsoft offers an excellent benefits package to full-time employees including medical, dental, vacation, employee stock purchase plan, and 401k, plus some great extras including: our 24-hour nurse line, stay fit program, product discounts, and paid infant care leave. All part of our commitment to our most important asset: our employees.
