Senior Operations Engineer

In an ongoing drive for excellence, the HRIT Support and Operations team is looking for an outstanding person to join the team to provide friendly, timely and accurate resolution of customer support issues. The HRIT Support and Operations team is focused on providing outstanding application support and customer service to our partner business groups within Microsoft. The position will be responsible for delivering excellent application support, coordinating new application deployments, driving the ongoing improvement process, and providing leadership for one of the business COEs. The role will include liaison with appropriate teams within and outside of Microsoft (when applicable) via phone and e-mail. The successful candidate will manage and be the primary point of escalation for multiple applications supported by the team. Core position responsibilities:·  Participation in the implementation and support of systems in our production environment.·  Participation in the implementation of new application or version releases into production.·  Lead mentality - the ability to be accountable for a suite of applications within a selected COE.·  Participation in team project activities prior to release into production.·  Contribution to documentation requirements for new or existing applications in line with HRIT standards.·  Responsibility for the provision of support in line with the HRIT SLA, ensuring that each reported problem is resolved in a timely manner, tracked according to standards and escalated as appropriate.·  Responsibility for the execution of tasks and projects to achieve the support team's short-term business objectives.·  Communication of technical and business problems in a non-technical manner. Skill set requirements:·  Strong technical skills in Microsoft technologies including Windows 2000/2003, IIS, IE, ASP and SQL 2005 Strong understanding of TCP/IP and DNS in both a Corpnet and Internet context.·  Strong understanding of Software Lifecycle methodology and information systems development.·  Sound problem resolution, judgment and decision making skills required.·  Strong analysis skills for trouble shooting and resolving complex issues.·  Excellent customer service skills - a can do approach to working with customers towards resolving their issues.·  Outstanding communication skills both written and oral.·  The ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts.·  Proven track record in a technical support / training environment. Qualifications requirements:·  Bachelors degree in a relevant field - computer science or information systems OR at least 5 years relevant work experience.·  MCSE preferred.·  Past experience working in a support team within Microsoft preferred. Microsoft offers an excellent benefits package to full-time employees including medical, dental, vacation, employee stock purchase plan, and 401k, plus some great extras including: our 24-hour nurse line, stay fit program, product discounts, and paid infant care leave.
