Senior QA Engineer

Senior QA EngineerLength: 12 Week Contract  We are looking for a result oriented, proactive individual to be part of our strong quality assurance team as a Senior QA Engineer. This person must be a quick and independent learner. This individual will play an active hands-on role in all aspects of quality assurance: functional requirements walkthroughs, reviewing technical designs, creating test plans and testing project features. Requires 4+ years of experience on Internet commerce applications using SQL, UNIX and Java technologies. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for this self-directed, motivated individual. Manager's top 3 priorities:1) Strong communicator able to approach different teams to get info. 2) Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. 3) Exp w/ SQL, UNIX, JAVA & strong understanding of the SDLC. Responsibilities: -Work closely with Product/Business Analysts, Software/QA Engineers, and Managers to understand the product requirements and use cases in order to deliver high quality software on schedule for production releases. -Create and execute test plans and test cases based upon functional and software design specifications. -Perform ad-hoc and Regression testing of system components during monthly release schedules. -Help define, promote, and ensure adherence to quality assurance processes such as test plan reviews, defect management, risk/complexity analysis, and regression test maintenance. -Interface with 3rd parties on requirements, testing, and problem troubleshooting. -Perform tasks within area of specialization with little to no supervision. -Be responsible for following through and making sure defects are reported and escalated appropriately. Requirements: -Strong analytical skills in assessing user, functional, and technical requirements and documentation and identifying high risk and key test areas. -Strong problem solving and investigative skills. -Genuine enjoyment of software quality assurance and testing work. -Experience testing database driven applications including data validation using SQL. -Understanding of quality assurance and software development processes and methodologies. -Balances and prioritizes activities to ensure critical items are addressed. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -UNIX and/or Linux command line experience.
