Position Summary

 

The Senior Research Analyst delivers primary research focused on a specific business and information technology practice area. Partnering with the Group Director or the Group SVP, the Senior Research Analysts build a market-facing presence through the completion of thought-provoking primary research. 

 

Responsibilities

 Tracks emerging trends and technologies in a specific technology practice area.Conducts market research on new and emerging technology trends/business processesConducts industry competitive analysis Conducts qualitative research interviews Creates and administers quantitative surveysConducts statistical analysis from data collectedWrites research reports, sector insights, research briefs (publishes 6-8 key benchmark reports and 24 smaller (5 page) derivatives per year)Conducts vendor briefings and meetings Manages the research team’s research advisory council (RAC) activities; conducts all RAC webinars/briefingsManages relationships with 30-40 research clients within a specific domain areaDevelops relationships with the top 3-5 trade publication’s editorial staff to support their research and market voice.  Quoted in 10 publications per yearCompletes at least 5 industry leading speaking engagements per year as a leading authority on the researchMentors and coaches new Research Associates and Research AnalystsDesigns and manages a commercially successful research agenda for a research coverage areaMaintains 10+ Advisory clients with 80% yearly renewal rate

 

Qualifications

 

· Bachelor’s degree with 8-15+ years of related work experience in the business and information technology sector with strong proven skills in writing to deadline; Master’s degree/MBA strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of market dynamics and industry trends.Demonstrates continuing proficiency in the Aberdeen Research methodology and support tools (i.e. SNAP)Growing awareness of technology and software functionality

· Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research concepts and tools.Appreciation of what Marketing Executives in vendor companies can use research to drive market education and awareness, create demand, arm the sales force and expand the current client base.Domain expertise in one or more of the Aberdeen practice areasStrong critical thinking and analysis skills.Excellent writing skills with proven experience in publishing to timelines.Capable of translating technology into business benefits and plans in simple terms.
