Senior SQL Programmer

Job description:

Global financial services client is seeking a Senior SQL Programmer for their Corporate Technology group

Degree/Major Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. MBA is a plus

Skills:
*Minimum of 4 years experience developing and supporting MS/SQL database applications and stored procedure development.
*Extensive SQL and stored procedure programming experience developing in-house applications from requirements documents and technical specifications
*Minimum of 1 year experience building C# .NET applications
*Experience using DTS and BCP commands to move and transform data
*Experience programming/debugging MS Access applications
*Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with senior business and technology staff while performing business analysis, application development, and production support.
*Proven business analysis skills and experience in gathering and documenting client requirements for financial applications
*Experience with creating technical/functional design documents and diagrams from business requirements documents
*Knowledge and experience with evaluating, designing, developing, and managing database based applications
*Experience designing data models, data mart structures, and dictionaries by working directly with business representatives and IT teams
*Experience with defining test scenarios and test cases and executing/coordinating user acceptance testing
*Must be able to thrive in an environment of managing multiple tasks with fixed deadlines
*Requires excellent troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills. Must be a self-motivated, results oriented team player who pays close attention to details, ensures accuracy, and exceeds efficiency standards

 

Desired Education, Experience, Skills:

*Knowledge of and experience working with compensation and commission applications is a plus *Experience leading and coordinating offshore development teams
*Experience building .NET applications with Infragistics NetAdvantage assembly
*Experience with business intelligence (BI) and reporting application tools is a plus
*Knowledge of Cognos 8 application software to both model meta-data and create reports
*Knowledge of Informatica to build extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes
*Knowledge of Ralph Kimball Data Warehouse principles

Duties & Responsibilities:
Corporate Technology group is seeking a senior MS/SQL programmer to lead the design and development of an internal Private Client commission's application. The ideal candidate will possess application development experience where he/she:

*Works directly with business partners to identify and document business requirements
*Develops functional and technical specifications
*Develops high-level and low-level application and GUI designs
*Programs the application according to approved designs and unit testing code
*Conducts systems tests leading into user acceptance testing

*Delivers final application into production Candidate will need to have excellent communication and analysis skills to work directly with senior business clients in the Finance area to gather requirements.

Once requirements are completed and signed-off by the business owner, a comprehensive application design will need to be created leveraging the successful designs of two other recent commission projects. With a fair amount of work previously done for this project, the candidate will need to evaluate the work that has been done and re-use as much of the existing product as possible.

The objective of this project is to enhance the existing application, add new critical functionality, and migrate to a .NET front-end that is aligned with the department's other .NET applications

The requirement to have both excellent analytical and technical skills is a critical one for this position and the candidate must be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication and analytical skills, be able to define, interpret, and document business partner needs, and have a proven track record of completing tasks within established timeframes In addition to this primary initiative, the candidate will also need to provide both technical and functional expertise to other applications and team members in support of the Financial Management department**s information technology requirements

The candidate's other responsibilities will include, but not be restricted to:
*Document, analyze, and resolve reported performance and/or functional issues by performing independent testing and coordinating all communications with business and technical staff
*Develop, document, manage, and coordinate all user acceptance testing
*Perform performance tuning to increase processing efficiency
*Coordinate all communications with the Database Management team and vendors

*Develop and perform training sessions for clients and management when necessary
*Provide written and oral status updates to management as required
