POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Senior Software Engineer is responsible for supporting, designing and developing major enhancements to the Dexterra Mobility Platform product line – Mobile Devices group. Also responsible for developing functional design specifications based on functional requirements for delivery to QA and Technical Documentation teams.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

· Translates functional requirements into design level requirements.

· Participates in code design and development by actively writing code and conducting development unit testing.

· Communicate with Supporting organization on engineering issue resolutions.

· Coordinates with other development teams within Engineering in participation of the full software development lifecycle.

· Delivers functional documentation of design and development.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

· BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience.

· 5+ years of programming experience in a commercial software development environment.

· 3+ years designing and developing distributed enterprise-level server software.

· 2+ years development experience developing communication software.

· Sound knowledge of  .NET is required.

· Strong knowledge and experience in the following areas: Application software building, threading and thread-safety issues, synchronizing data for multi-threading, MVC design pattern, UI paradigms, transaction processing fundamentals, performance tuning.

· Nice to have – prior knowledge of building applications for Windows Mobile and Desktop clients.  Prior knowledge of Visual Studio VSIP Package and Add-in development.

· Plusses: experience in the .NET CF, C++, MDA, Mobility Architecture, XML, SQL Mobile, Visual Studio extensibility.

· Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical information.

· Demonstrated ability to compose clear and concise technical written communication.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, operate a personal computer, visually inspect forms, conduct oral communication via telephone and in person, retrieve and return files in storage cabinets, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
