Senior Software Engineer, Grid Computing

We're looking for people like you. How Big Can You Think? We are looking for a talented and motivated software engineer to work on the design and implementation of query access to 1000+ node grid. As a member of Grid team, you will participate in the development of one of the world's largest and most complex grid solutions. Challenges include designing high-performance multi-parallel algorithms and building their failure-resistant implementations that can scale to handle many terabytes of data, and meet the requirements of various Yahoo! businesses. You must be a quick learner, have good communication skills, and be able to maintain ownership of projects throughout their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, and post-release maintenance. Job Responsibilities * Hands on developer responsible for design and implementation of query language that provides access to data stored on large (1000+ nodes) grid. * Participation in performance measurement, profiling, and improvements. * Active participation in the open source effort for the project. * Active interaction with users including training, customer support, etc. Minimum Job Qualifications * Strong Java or C++ and Python or Perl * Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques and object-oriented programming * Working knowledge of databases Preferable Job Qualifications * BS/MS in computer science (or equivalent) * Experience with large distributed data and systems * Knowledge of database internals and query optimization Yahoo!
