About the Job We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, highly productive Sr. Software Engineer to help develop intuitive interfaces to provide customers access to our Media & Storage related products and services. The ideal candidate will have strong database and web application programming experience, demonstrated problem solving abilities, good teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to design powerful yet customer-friendly user interfaces. Engineers on the Portal team execute full lifecycle development of a multi-tier web application: requirements analysis, application design, implementation, deployment. We develop primarily in Java and Perl, interfacing with various subsystems to drive configuration, reports, and alerts. The team assists customer support to analyze and solve customer issues related to their area of expertise as needed. Responsibilities * Create new customer-oriented web applications and improve existing applications to provide functionality like provisioning, reporting, and alerting. * Create a superb user experience focused on usability, performance, and robustness. * Develop and maintain scalable web applications with HTML GUI and SOAP API interfaces. Manage application transactional state using JDBC/RDBMS. * Education: Master's Degree in Computer Science * Overall Experience: - 2-5 years or equivalent experience - 7 years of experience with B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience Desired Qualifications * M.Sc. in Computer Science or related field with four years of relevant experience. [Will also accept B.Sc. plus 7 years experience in relevant position as software developer or software engineer.] Experience developing intuitive customer-facing user interfaces a big plus. * Experience in developing multi-tier web applications on java platform including following technologies: - Java/J2EE including JSP, JSF, Struts, and JDBC. - Experience in databases including data modeling and stored procedures - Experience in developing web applications using HTML, CSS and Javascripts. - XML and SOAP (Web Services) interfaces. - Perl 5 including HTML::Mason, SOAP::Lite, and DBI. - Familiarity with Apache web proxy and Tomcat configuration a plus. * Understanding of Internet protocols, HTTP and Streaming content delivery.
