ShiftWise, a dynamic, fast-growing SaaS (software as a service) company in the healthcare industry, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator at our corporate headquarters in Portland, OR.  In this position, you will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of our production network, development and testing network, and corporate network.

 

General GoalsLead our server and network projects – design, procure, deploy, manage and improve our IT systems Provide administration of the production system including web server and database server administration.Work with application developers and data center staff to ensure optimal system performance.Maximize uptime and ensure security on all IT infrastructure

 

Specific Responsibilities:Maintain scalable, secure backup and data storage solutions Manage security policies and apply security updates Perform regular hardware and software maintenance including updates Participate in 24/7 support for networks Maintain and improve performance monitoring system; analyze results and make recommendations for upgrades/improvements Maintain strong working relationships with technical and non-technical internal customers, colocation staff, and vendors Develop and maintain disaster recovery documentation; restore databases and file systems as needed Maintain accurate, current network diagrams and documentation Provide desktop support; manage user accounts Assist with overlapping server/network/application technologies such as DNS administration, SSL certificate administration, IIS, Active Directory, .Net framework, etc. Manage telecommunications system Assist with facilities management as needed.

 

Experience/Skills:Strong customer service orientation Experience administering networks using Windows 2000/2003 and SQL server 2005 Experience in a web/ASP production environment; experience administering .Net apps Detailed understanding of IIS and related network architecture Experience with Netscreen firewalls including VPN, routing and internet application security Experience with system performance measurement and capacity planning Knowledge of DNS, SMTP, TCP/IP, DHCP and other protocols Demonstrated propensity to act with speed and a sense of urgency Ability to anticipate and manage issues before they become major problems Ability to work with remote teams and to make decisions with limited supervision but to act as part of a team Flexibility and willingness to take on varied tasks. Good written and oral communication skills; highly organized; security-conscious 3+ years relevant experience BS in Computer Science or related field and MCSE preferred
