Senior Unix System Administrator

We are currently seeking a Senior Unix System Administrator for our ISS department located in Wayne, PA.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include system management, implementing procedures, security and operation of GENEX Services, Inc. AIX, HP-UX and Linux Operating systems and EMC Clariion and HP EVA Storage Area Networks. Must be able to work on a day to day basis with application programmers to design and implement system changes along with developing and implementing procedures to evaluate application and system performance in the UNIX environments. Must also be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently and be able to interact with employees at all levels of the company. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree from four year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  4 to 6 years in related computer field is required. Thorough and detailed knowledge of enterprise UNIX operating systems administration, including AIX, HP-UX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Detailed knowledge of low-level operating system functions, with the ability to tune kernel and OS parameters for a specific server type or function. Knowledge of UNIX operating system interactions with both local and enterprise storage devices, including knowledge of the configuration and maintenance of these systems as an enterprise storage client. Detailed knowledge of enterprise web architecture, including administration of Apache httpd, Jakarta Tomcat, BEA Weblogic, web server proxy and caching and load balancer concepts. Must possess an understanding of concepts related to enterprise, domain-wide configuration and administration of UNIX systems, including revision control and configuration management tools and the ability to work within these systems. Ability to co-architect, document and implement enterprise UNIX server environments as per operational, management and budgetary requirements and/or limitations is also required.
