Senior Windows Systems Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA 95050 Employment Type: Full Time, Employee Expected Duration: 7+ to 10 Years Pay Rate: 85,000.00 - 100,000.00 USD /year Position Summary: The Systems Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the maintenance and growth of company’s production operations & services. Job Description: Oversee, monitor and support of the everyday operations of the production operations infrastructure. Plan, test, and implement new systems and/or rebuild existing systems as required. Architect, engineer, and design new environments and service infrastructure. Develop and maintain documents on architecture, configuration, policies, processes and procedures. Maintain disaster recovery plan and all associated system backups and testing. Design and support "0-Downtime" solutions, automating and improving on existing and new processes. Project management or serve as technical member/lead on global infrastructure projects. Develop and present architectures, business cases, designs, and projects. Troubleshoot issues and support internal users, including technical (developers, QA engineers, professional services, etc.) and non-technical (administration, sales, etc.) users. Deliver quality solutions with minimal resources within aggressive timeframes. Consistently deliver tasks, ticket resolution and projects on time and on budget. Troubleshoot, recommend and implement enhancements to the infrastructure. Ensure that security issues are addressed in a pro-active manner including issues such as hacking, viruses, email abuse, protection of sensitive data, etc. Scheduling, performing and maintaining data storage, backups and recovery. Share on call responsibilities for 24x7 operations of production sites and maintaining uptime metrics. Perform regular releases to our staging and production environments adhering to strict change control procedures. Identify and recommend future technologies. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5-7 years in System Administration/Engineering. Managed large scale environments (200+ servers). Highly organized and able to multi-task. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels. Expert in Windows 2000/2003 operating systems Expert in critical applications (SQL, IIS, AD). Expert in Active Directory, DHCP, WINS, and DNS. Expert in Server related technology (i.e., Clustering, RAID systems, tape backup, SCSI devices etc) Expert in Server hardware (HP/Compaq, DELL, SAN) Good knowledge of Unix Environments (Redhat, Suse) Good knowledge and understanding of Systems Automation. Good knowledge of WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, Firewalls and routers (Cisco knowledge preferred) Good knowledge of Batch/VBScript/PERL scripting. Good knowledge of Security (RSA, IPSEC, IP protocol, ACLs, IDS, IPS) Strong technical/analytical skills. Project Management skills including setting dates, tasks, milestones, budgeting, and scheduling resources. Team player, self-starter, goal oriented, open minded, flexible and people oriented.
