About Business group The Search & Advertising Technology Group is responsible for providing solutions to advertisers and publishers for all aspects of advertisements like planning tools, inventory mgmt, forecasting, campaign management, optimizations, reporting etc. with several billion transactions happening every day. Our team is responsible for keeping Yahoo ahead of the curve by creating a roadmap, architecting, and developing next generation of highly scalable, flexible, and highly available distributed systems. Job Responsibilities: * Architect highly reliable, scalable, extensible, maintainable, and operable next generation advertising serving systems * Work closely with other teams within the advertising technology group to define and architect features and products that require significant cross-component coordination * Work closely with the technology teams (Dev, QA, Ops) to develop design patterns, improve code quality, overall system reliability, and maintainability * Work closely with product management, algorithm research, and economists to provide input into the next generation advertising marketplace design and implementation * Define and drive architecture standards working with other architects within the advertising system group Minimum Qualifications: * Strong expertise in distributed systems design and implementation * Solid experience with object-oriented technologies, design patterns, and fault-tolerance engineering * Solid background in high-performance engineering * Strong verbal and written communication skills * 12+ years of commercial software development * 5+ years of technical leadership with architect responsibilities * MS in CS (or equivalent) is a must Preferred Qualifications: * Ph.D. is preferred * Knowledge of SQL, STL, NFS, TCP/IP * Experience with machine learning algorithms and/or statistical methods in computation * Experience with Agile product development methodology Yahoo!
