Summary

 

The incumbent will be responsible for planning, managing, maintaining, coordinating and executing the build process for complex, multi-tier web software, both for applications and databases. They will maintain the development and integration testing environment, and developing / executing unit and integration test automation scripts, while improving and enforcing strict SDLC processes.

 

Essential Duties

· Coordinates and manages the build process across all development teams.

· Designs, develops, tests, maintains and executes sophisticated build processes and scripts for the delivery of automated installation packages for complex, multi-tier web business software (Microsoft environment: MSBuild, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, .NET, SQL Server).

· Prepares and delivers automated database installation and upgrade scripts.

· Designs, configures and maintains all development test environments, running multiple versions of several business applications in parallel. Ensures the development team has all the tools necessary to develop and test the software.

· Develops and maintains reusable unit/integration testing tools in order to minimize defects delivered to QA.

· Maintains and administers the SDLC & source control system (MS Team Foundation Server). Upgrades the work item workflows as required, create code branches, etc.

· Takes responsibility for the quality of the builds delivered to QA, by ensuring all required tests are executed and by checking the completeness of the installation packages.

· Packages technical documentation and release notes for delivery to QA.

· Adheres to development standards, software development lifecycle processes and SAS 70 audit requirements. Constantly seeks ways to improve our processes for increased agility and quality.

· Ensures technical documentation is created (as part of all assignments) and maintained as the basis for future enhancement and knowledge sharing.

 

Requirements5+ years experience in software configuration and building in a MS Windows development environment. Hands-on experience with Visual Studio, SourceSafe, MSBuild and Team Foundation Server. Strong understanding of the .NET framework. Hands-on experience with InstallShield or other equivalent tool to create application installation packages. Strong knowledge of SQL Server and SQL scripting required, with basic database administration experience. 2+ years experience in software test automation using TestPartner or equivalent. 2+ years experience in software development using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET and/or C++.Knowledge of the software development lifecycle. OO software design / UML knowledge and familiarity with Agile methodologies (RUP, SCRUM, XP, MSF).
