Software Design Engineer - Open due to growth

D2Hawkeye is looking for a Software Design Engineer to enhance our suite of products.  Our product suite has grown in the past year to include an enterprise reporting platform, D2ReportManager, an OLAP query application, D2Analyzer, and a health plan design tool, D2BenefitAdvisor.  This position will report to an Engineering Manager.

General responsibilities include but not limited to:Design new product features and enhancements for our entire product suiteTouch all aspects of product design, from front-end user interface to middle tier to back-end data sourcesAct as technical liaison between software development and client services teamsWork with our clients, either directly or through the client services team, to create requirements specifications, user interface mock-ups, and other documents to ensure that the product delivered meets the client’s needsInterface closely with the Product Management, Product Development, Quality Control, Product Research, and Business/Data Engineering teams as dictated by our Software Development Lifecycle Processes



Requirements:Bachelor of Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field2+ years in software engineeringStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong knowledge of Java or similar object-oriented language



Highly desirable skills:Fluency in translating business requirements into design specificationsSome fluency with:J2EE web application design patternsJ2EE application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat, WebSphere, etc.)Web Services and integration architecturesRelational database SQL programming and/or administrations – Oracle 10g in particular

Healthcare claims data knowledge and experience

Desire to take ownership for project deliverables and execute with a high standard of quality with minimal supervision

Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-cultural, and entrepreneurial engineering organization
