Software Developer-PERM

Our financial services client is seeking a full time software developer with several years of related experience to join their customized desktop software development team.  The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and support desktop applications that improve the operational efficiency of the Securities Finance’s business units.  The group oversees about 160 applications and there are 100+ internal users accessing these applications at any given time.  In addition the ideal candidate should have a 30/70 or 40/60 balance of BA/IT skills. 

 

Job Description

* Drives and documents all phases of the product life cycle: analyze, develop, test and implement.

* Facilitates project team meetings, collects design information, defines and documents business requirements

* Develops desktop application solutions according to business requirements

* Performs unit testing to verity the application functions according to design specifications

* Implements the application solution, including writing user instructions and training

* Provides post implementation support

* Provides on-going support for all BSD developed applications

* Develops and maintains the Securities Finance intranet site

* Provides technical assistance to other BSD members 

 

Job Specifications

* Bachelor's degree in business or technology

* Minimum 5 years financial services experience

* Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills

* Project management skills and experience with managing projects (he wants someone who could grow into a lead so they should have the desire to want to grow in this role and have excellent communication/interpersonal skills)

* Strong business analyst skills

* Excellent PC skills: MS Office suite and OS environments

* Experience with a product life cycle approach

* Minimum 5 years of application development utilizing: Visual Basic or VB.Net, VBA, SQL, HTML, JavaScript and Bloomberg API

* Experience with DDE or OLE programming.

* Minimum several years of work experience with relational databases including: MS Access, MS SQL Server, Sybase or Oracle 

* Experience with website design, development and deployment
