Software Developer - SQL

The Software Developer will design, unit test, and implement high quality software for a customer software solution. This is a hands-on software development position. The developer will be a part of a cross functional team that includes customers, Business Analysts, QA, Configuration Management as well as members of other departments within the organization as required. Developers work with Architects and other Senior Software Developers during the development process. This role reports to the Software Development Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Apply company approved software development practices for the analysis, design, prototyping, development and unit testing of software products: Design and code software solutions to meet user business requirement specifications Unit test software programs for errors in program logic and to verify functionality and compliance with user specifications Comply with source code control, bug tracking, software development life cycle and all other departmental processes and procedures Decompose tasks and work with Software Development Managers to prepare estimates on design and development efforts Lead and/or participate in design and code reviews Complete tasks with little or no supervision or oversight Communicate project task status, design and other related issues to the Development Manager or Project Lead Exercise initiative and creativity, recommending changes in procedures or tools as required. Update and/or develop documentation for software and/or software development processes and procedures. Contribute to design and architecture discussions. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong experience with object-oriented software development methodologies and practices 2+ years SQL experience 2+ years T-SQL or PL-SQL experience 2+ years Java (JDBC) and/or C# (.NET) experience 2+ years SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) experience Demonstrated expertise in .NET/Microsoft platform and broad knowledge of other non-Microsoft technologies/platforms. Ability to produce POC/pseudo code Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service, team player ethic Beneficial Skills 2+ years Microsoft Biztalk or other orchestration utilities Experience with the development of stand-alone applications. 2+ years working with Oracle 9i or above 2+ years working with SQL Server 2000/20005 and related tools (DTS, Reporting Services, etc.) This position will work closely with Business Analysts, testers, and configuration management staff to produce quality releases for software solutions. Actively pursues learning and mastering of job skills and requirements Ability to work and communicate with all levels of staff Knowledge of the healthcare industry business transaction processing a plus.
