Software Development Engineer - Manufacture on Demand Amazon's manufacture on demand team is looking for talented software engineers to develop technology for Print on demand where books are made on the fly as customers order them. The technology is enabling millions of books that were once out of stock or out of print to be back in print making information easily accessible to our customers. The technology also enables self publishing for individual authors.  The team is expanding to support global deployment worldwide and we are looking for candidates who are excited about joining the growing business. We are looking for candidates who are deeply technical, innovative, and know how to deliver while having fun building a massively scalable, high-performance data analysis and deployment platform and operations. We are looking for candidates with experience in PDF document structure and image processing. Candidates must have industrial experience working with PDF and/or document images. Candidate will be working on algorithms and on creating applications for converting a variety of document formats into print-ready documents.  BS or MS in computer science or related field. 2+ years experience Experience with Java, Perl, C or C++. Knowledge of publishing is a plus. Comfortable programming for manipulating PDF documents and variety of document image formats.
