DepartmentSoftware DevelopmentResponsibilitiesEnvision, design and develop Web applications and key UI modules.Interface and understand Java API business logic used to build Web Tier applications.Work closely with Java programmers, product specialists, and management to provide cutting edge cross-platform solutions for ESRI customers.Apply good software design and development practices in daily activities.Write comprehensive technical specifications and support documentation.Active and effective participation in various activities within the software development cycle.RequirementsB.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field. Five or more years of experience in Java Enterprise architecture, design and development.Strong Windows and UNIX background.Expertise in one or more of these areas: Java, J2EE, Portals and Portlets, Web Services.Experience building web applications using JSP, HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, XPath and XSLT.In-depth knowledge of one or more J2EE Application Servers. Excellent problem solving, design, development, and debugging skills.Ability to work with a team in a constantly challenging environment.Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.Recommended QualificationsGIS experience.Strong in web design methodologies and frameworks, such as Java Server Faces (JSF).Ability to rapidly prototype web and enterprise applications to showcase new ideas.Experience with Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex 2, ActionScript, Perl, PHP, REST, JSON and JavaScript toolkits such as Dojo and Prototype.
