Software Engineer, Team Lead

The PACS development software team lead will take an active role in the entire software development process for Merge Healthcare advanced storage and distribution products. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, development and support of Picture Archive And Communication applications and integrations. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and leading projects as well as directing and mentoring other software engineers.





Responsibilities: Actively lead development teams through product definition and design Create accurate resource and time estimates for multiple development projects Apply creative solutions through the use of innovative technology for product development initiatives Create project documentation as required by the Design Control Process Design, code and unit test application software Fix defects and implement enhancements as recommended by the product team Lead code walk-throughs and design reviews Assist Product Test and Systems Engineering teams with the creation of software and systems verification plans and procedures Utilize a defect tracking system to track software defects and change requests Provide mentorship and coaching to other members of the product development team Serve as a subject matter expert to resolve customer issues that arise in the deployed products Travel (less than 10%) to other company offices to work with colleagues and to observe products functioning at customer sites



 

Required Knowledge & Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of software development experience leveraging object oriented and common pattern design. Experience in developing solutions using C++ on windows platforms. Experience with relational database concepts including design, performance analysis, and data access patterns. Must exhibit excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze complex tasks and propose viable solutions for both strategic and tactical development initiates. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work well in both individual and team environments. Must show a positive attitude and be able to motivate others to excel in a fast-paced organization. B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline required.



 

Desirable Skills: Two (2) or more yeas of experience developing Microsoft .NET client and web applications and services using C# Knowledge of client server architectures and N tier server architectures Experience developing against Microsoft SQL Server. Knowledge of DICOM and HL7 communication standards. Experience in medical imaging, PACS, medical information systems or healthcare environment is preferred.
