Software Engineering Manager

EzRez (www.ezrez.com), “The leading SaaS for online travel,” is a Software as a Service company that helps any business enhance its Web presence with intelligent and easy packaging and selling of air, hotel, rental car, vacation activities, and other related travel components for customers to purchase online or through a travel agent. In addition to packaging and merchandising solutions, EzRez offers the needed inventory through direct access to its vast network of travel-related services and distributors, helping to broaden offerings and lower distribution costs while increasing efficiency.  In August 2007 we secured $15 million in a second round of funding, and our partners include: JetBlue, American Airlines Vacations, and Starwood Hotels.Responsibilities

· Manage the software development and delivery of multiple projects in an agile environment.

· Manage and actively mentor a team of 6-8 developers of varying skill levels including performance reviews, performance plans, and recruitment.

· Ensure adherence to pragmatic process with high standards in code quality.

· Interact with other teams including Product, Sales, Support, Ops, and QA to ensure proper coordination and implementation.

· Proactively recommend process, tool, and development improvements and helps implement these ideas.

· Communicate on a regularly basis the project status, risk, and technical issues to the team.Requirements

· BS in Computer Science or other technical degree with a solid understanding of Java.

· Proactive, results-oriented problem solver with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines while paying great attention to details.

· 3+ years of proven success as a software engineer manager with a track record of successful projects while maintaining a strong team.

· Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, wiki, and white-boarding).

· 2+ years working in a high-volume, large scale e-commerce or SaaS environment.

· Familiarity with agile software development and the desire to champion it.

· Ability to roll-up your sleeves and pitch-in at a hands-on level with coding, documenting, testing, or wherever the greatest need may be.Nice to have

· Familiarity with the travel industry

· Desire to learn more about open source framework/libraries/tools including Spring, Hibernate, JMS (ActiveMQ), memcached, Freemarker, Tomcat, JBoss, subversion, maven, and Ruby on Rails.
