Position Description:

Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., is a market leader in clinical data management with more than 1,200 U.S. hospitals and commercial laboratories, and over 60 customers in Canada, UK, Western Europe, and the Middle-East. The company designs, develops, and supports a comprehensive suite of information products for hospitals and laboratories that include laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy systems. Sunquest uses open systems that are scalable to any size hospital or healthcare network.The Program Manager is responsible for the coordination of all activities associated with leading software product release teams, requiring close working relationships with Product Management, Sales & Marketing, Development and Client Services organizations.The successful candidate will focus on the following objectives during the first year:1) First 30 Days:a) Prepare detailed review of active programs to be transitioned, including team makeup, resource needs, critical action items and key transition issues/ recommendations.b) Prepare a Program Portfolio status report for submission to Program Management Office (PMO) Manager and Executive team including progress on reschedules, milestone delivery dates and project deliverables at risk.2) First 3 Months:a) Adopt the PMO recommended suite of program-specific metrics and begin reporting against all programsb) Secure a program schedule for all major and minor product releases.c) Identify and document areas within the program that are not following the standard program management approach and make recommendations for adherence.3) Ongoing:a) Work closely with product development and service delivery management teams ensuring product delivery schedules closely align to their requirements.b) Lead and direct inter-disciplinary whole product teams including resourcing recommendations, team meetings and program schedule management.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Develops and manages program plans for all major and minor product releases including working with department managers to develop detailed project plans, to appropriately staff projects, manage resources with regard to project deliverables, and oversee all aspects of product development and delivery.• Leads and directs all members of inter-disciplinary whole product teams, including identifying and recommending staff for team membership, managing weekly or bi-weekly team meetings, ensuring team members clearly understand their respective deliverables, ensuring release schedules and milestone delivery dates are adhered to, working closely with senior management group when project deliverables are at risk.• Promotes the whole-product delivery concept within and without the organization, providing training to other staff as necessary on the program management process.• Works closely with the product development and service delivery project management teams, ensuring product delivery schedules closely align to development and service delivery requirements.• Supports the development of standardized service delivery project plans for the product• Reviews documentation to support standardization across all stakeholders in the whole-product delivery and services processes.• Provides new and innovative ideas for improving the whole-product delivery process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in CS or MIS • 3 to 5 years background in software project management in a lead capacity, working with a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team.• Experience leading a team of at least five people, and managed projects of at least 6-8 months in duration.• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.• Experience within the healthcare informatics space preferred.
