Software Solutions Architect

Job Description:
The Software Solutions Architect will work closely with our sales team to drive consulting services for our customers.

Using VMware’s Virtual Infrastructure Methodology (VIM) you will prepare project proposals which include the business requirements, technical requirements and appropriate solutions.

In addition to sales and scope management experience, the solutions architect will need in-depth knowledge surrounding server and storage technologies. Using this experience and knowledge of VMware’s products, you will advise clients on issues related to the design and deployment including complexity trade-offs and technical and business impact.

From time to time the solutions architect may be called on for the assessment phase of a project.

Responsibilities Include:
•Participate in the pre-sales process to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements
•Design and develop solutions to customer requirements
•Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of the VMware product line
•Effectively communicate solutions to the customer and project teams
•Ensure that propositions are technically sound, deliverable, competitive and address business issues

Requirements:
•3+ years experience in infrastructure architecture and design, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback
•Understanding of server and storage architectures, including Blades, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, RAID and multi-processor designs (SMP)
•Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards, capacity/performance management and storage and network management
•Understanding of IT data center operations
•A good practical understanding of Web-based applications
•Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
•Ability to travel up to 30 percent of the time
