Software Support Engineer I

A fast growing software organization in DataPath, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, is seeking top caliber engineers.  DataPath, an ISO 9000 software and hardware integration provider has several engineering opportunities available for software support, development, and project implementation. 

 

This entry leve position provides technical computer engineering support to DataPath’s growing Software Maintenance Plan customers.  The associate in this role is a key technical player delivering support to customers operating live production environments.  This role supports DataPath’s Network Management & Control software, upgrade consulting, software development, system configuration, problem isolation, and quality testing.  This customer facing role has the opportunity to work with engineers in customer environments.  Defined career paths, senior engineering mentorship, and training are available for the employee’s continued professional growth.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Interprets customer issue report and plans technical resolution in support of requirements. Interacts and represents DataPath, Inc. to customer environments Performs remote troubleshooting and issue resolution to customer reported issues.  Effectively communicates problems to higher level engineers as well as Customer Support Manager.  Possesses knowledge of basic hardware, operating system, application software and networking. Builds and debugs drivers given protocol documentation. Provides problem segmentation and communicates internal and external to DataPath, Inc: Dissects problems methodically based on remote access. Isolates root cause of software problems to a specific area.Provides support and execution of resolution tests to close out customer issue report. Records time associated with product and/or projects in an accurate and timely manner.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Education:

 

Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline.  Masters Degree is a plus.

 

Required Skills/Experience: 

 

1-3 years systems engineering or software development experience

Operating Systems:  Windows NT, 2000, XP, Linux

Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and lab test equipment

Oral communication skills interfacing with Customer

Well documented reports to Project Manager and Customer 

Planning and scheduling of individual work tasks

Problem identification and resolution research
