The solutions engineering team at Blackboard is a team of sales professionals with deep understanding of Blackboard solutions, including product, services, support, ASP, and market expertise. Solution engineers work with regional sales managers and services professionals as strategic partners in crafting the solution and the vision of the solution with the client in order to ensure success in the sales cycle.Duties and Responsibilities

 

The solutions engineer in the K-12 sector must meet or exceed expectations for the following duties and responsibilities:

 

·  Serve as an expert in Blackboard products, including their architecture, functionality, and deployment methodologies

·  Engage in strategic conversations with customer constituents

·  Deliver high quality product demonstrations to potential customers

·  Work with regional sales managers to develop solutions and document in proposals

·  Provide rapid, accurate responses to questions from sales staff in the field

·  Provide information and recommendations to assist with the development of responses to RFPs/RFIs.

·  Setup product demonstration and evaluation environments and oversee evaluation process

·  Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications

 

·  Bachelors degree or advanced degree

·  3 - 5 years of pre-sales support experience, preferably in enterprise sales/e-Learning environment

·  Experience in working in K-12 education sector

·  Recent experience working at a software or Learning Management System firm is desirable

·  Understanding of software design and architecture, including databases (Oracle and MS SQL Server), application servers, and Java.

·  Understanding of web technology (Tomcat, Apache, IIS are desirable)

·  Proven ability to craft a solution and develop proposals and RFP responses with appropriate products and services based on client discussions

·  Proven ability to engage at the executive-level  

 

Level of travel: 50-60%
