Sql Server Developer
Position : SQL Server Developer
Location : NYC
Duration : 6 Months+ (Project has the potentiality to go for long term)
Required Skills:
SQL Server 2005, SSIS, MS DTS, SQL Server 2000, Windows 2003
· Hands-on, in-depth knowledge of relational and dimensional (data warehousing) databases in SQL Server 2005
· Strong MS SQL Server development skills; experience writing T-SQL scripts, dynamic SQL, complex stored procedures, functions, triggers, SQLCMD, and SMO
· Extensive experience in ETL design/development using MS DTS and SSIS
· Experience using .Net framework to create SQL Server objects
· An understanding and working knowledge of data warehouse architecture and concepts including dimensional modeling and relational modeling
· Strong understanding of metadata and data quality concepts; experience working with a metadata repository
· Experience using database design tool tools such as ERWIN
· 5+ years proven experience in ETL design/development for at least one data warehouse project through the design and implementation phases
· 1+ years SQL Server 2005 CLR Programming with Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers and Aggregates
· 1 year experience using .Net framework to create SQL Server objects.
· At least one instance of hands-on experience upgrading SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
· Hands-on experience working with ETL of multiple data sources and ETL developers.
· Exposure to business intelligence projects
The Senior SQL Server Developer will act as a leader in the design and development of proprietary SQL Server based database code. Initially, this person will play a lead role in the migration of transactional systems and data warehouse from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. His or her tasks would include:
· Participate in analysis of current systems to determine impact of upgrade
· Define and implement approaches to load and extract data from multiple sources using SSIS
· Act as a Senior Developer to resolve complex technical issues for the team and review ETL code before migrating to production
· Build physical ETL processes (stored procedures, VB, Active X, etc.)
· Teach other team members the differences between SQL Server 2005 and 2000 and how to best implement the changes
In the months following the upgrade, if both parties are in agreement, the Sr. SQL Server Developer would work on the following:
· Design and develop incremental ETL code for the first two data marts of the MIO Data Warehouse
· Participate in the design, development, unit testing and documentation of a Data Warehouse Mart as well as SQL Server ETL code for a proprietary Risk Management System
· Coordinate with Business Systems Analysts and Project Managers to clarify and resolve issues with business requirements
· Bachelors and/or Masters Degrees in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related technical discipline. Several years of relevant experience will also be considered
· Minimum 2 years working in the finance industry
· Experience with Asset/Investment Management systems including front office and back office accounting systems preferred
· Experience Performance Analytics, Performance Attribution, and/or Risk Management systems would be a strong advantage
· Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must as is a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
· Ability to work well independently, as well as cooperatively with others
· Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· A strong work ethic is needed for this position
