Sr Analyst, Systems Applications Description:SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall design and structure of new applications. Works with project managers, network services, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure requirements are adequately defined. Determines appropriate technology to use in new applications and defines appropriate software architecture.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Responsible for the overall design and structure of new applications. Defines data models and determines appropriate technology to use in new applications.* Works with project office in defining implementation tasks, prepares time and cost estimates, reviews requirements to ensure the project is adequately defined and provides technical advice and guidance to project managers.* Prepares detailed design specifications using Object Oriented Analysis, Design and Programming, Design Patterns, and the Unified Modeling Language (UML).* Works with Enterprise Applications Manager in defining development methodologies. Establishes code guidelines - Exception Handling, Logging, Testing, and Threading. Enforces compliance with code guidelines. Ensures design patterns can be effectively maintained and extended.* Works with development team as a mentor to new team members.* Assist management in making personnel decisions for new developer positions.* Evaluates upgrades of Operating Systems, Database Servers, and development software. Plans application migrations for upgrades, identify modifications that are required in upgrade and prepares appropriate testing plan.* Works with Network Services in defining infrastructure requirements for load balancing, firewall set up, network authentication for applications, performance monitoring, and resolve issues with changes to the environment.* Work with QA team in identifying testing platforms and infrastructure requirements for testing new applications.* Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet client's site requirements.* Modify existing applications. Analyzes, reviews, and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.* Assists in solving operating problems with applications. Works with DBA's to resolve issues with storage, database design, and performance issues.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate should have experience in a variety of technologies and platforms, object-oriented analysis and design, and relational database design.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Candidates must be proficient in MS products including MS Office, MS Project Professional 2003, MS Project Server 2003 and Visio Professional. Experience with Software testing tools is a plus.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Minimum of five years of software development experience. Ability to translate current design patterns to a software design. Ability to set software standards. Ability to lead business units through each phase of the system life cycle. Ability to develop software using C#, ASP.NET and/or Java. Ability to write complex stored procedures and sql statements.
