Senior Automation Engineer

 

Position Summary:

Seeking an accomplished Sr. Automation Engineer who will have responsibility for design, development, and maintenance of modular, extensible and reusable test automation harness and scripts. This position is a hands-on QA Automation engineering role with a primary focus on leading the implementation of our automated regression test framework. You should have hands-on skills with test automation tools for functional testing. You should be flexible and able to also work some time on functional, system and integration testing for QA certification of our various applications.

 

The Sr. Automation Engineer will provide structure, direction, and support for all QA automation activities as well as design, develop and maintain automation scripts using Rational tools. He/she will perform hands-on testing of complex features and resolve issues as encountered as well as work closely with QA engineers. This person will document automation procedures, maintain documentation. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in automation (Rational Tools) for web applications where they have both used the product as well as drive the automation initiative.

 

Essential Functions:

• Contribute to the overall efficiency of the regression testing in QA organization

• Perform complex automation design, system analysis, and programming activities

• Must work closely with QA to capture test automation framework requirements

• Responsible for architecting, designing, developing, maintaining, and documenting automation scripts

• Maintain automation scripts written by yourself as well as others

• Work with QA team members to port the existing repetitive test cases and automate them

• Performs bug regression, release testing and end-to-end test scripting for assigned products

• Lead in requirements gathering efforts where manual test cases are lacking and requirements are insufficient to build automated scripts

• Ensures that defects in the software products have been corrected and test results are documented

 

Qualifications:

• At least five years automation testing experience

• Rational Tools experience Required in a web and client/server environment

• SQL Server database experience required

 

Essential Skills:

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Solid understanding of QA processes, approaches, methodologies and software development lifecycle, and ability to apply the knowledge into daily operation

• Strong ability in root cause analysis of issues, resolving testing issues, and driving issues to closure

• Experience working with software release cycles in an n-tier environment

• Ability to quickly learn new skills and systems

• Ability to work with multiple projects and deadlines
