JOB TITLE:  Sr. Benefits Administrator

 

Location:  Bellevue, WA

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

Works with insurance carriers and benefits counselor on new hire enrollment, employee issues, terminations, billing, plan design and compliance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

A)  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.  Administers employee benefits programs, such as basic and major medical coverage, dental insurance, group life insurance, pension plans, COBRA, and other benefits.  Assists in negotiating plan terms and conditions during the vendor selection process and at the time of renewals.

2.  Plans and conducts benefit open enrollment events.  

3.  Facilitates preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs, such as insurance and pension plans, paid time off, bonus pay, and special employer-sponsored activities.

4.  Ensures compliance of employee benefits programs with all federal and state regulations. Prepares and/or files required federal and state reports.

5.  Maintains benefits records and documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage.

6.  Oversees annual employee census for use in review and selection of insurance and benefit providers.

7.  Assists employee with various benefit questions and issues.

8.  Administers leave of absence and FMLA, staying and compliance with current laws.

9.  Verifies all benefit carrier invoices and audits related data in employee elections, invoices and payroll system.

 

 

B)  OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in a normal office environment with minimal travel required.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

 

A) ESSENTIAL:

 

Education:   bachelor’s degree in related discipline

 

Experience:  5-7 years experience with benefits administration

 

Knowledge: advanced knowledge of federal and state regulations that govern benefits practices; 

 

Skills: Good problem solving skills; demonstrated good judgment and discretion in handling confidential data; proficiency with MS Excel; basic mathematical proficiency; good customer service skills when interacting with employees and insurance carriers.
