Sr Cyber Security Engineer

Administers and maintains enterprise cyber security systems under the direction of the Cyber Security Program Administrator.

 

Monitors and reviews computer security incidents. Takes appropriate action to mitigate cyber security incidents and reports cyber security incidents to CIAC in accordance with DOE N 205.4, “Handling Cyber Security Alerts and Advisories and Reporting Cyber Security Incidents”.

 

 Assists in the Development and maintainence of  cyber security plans and budgets for all systems handling sensitive unclassified information.

 

Serves as cyber security technical lead to ensure sufficient mitigation of risk to unclassified information systems.

 

Distributes work assignments to team members and provides guidance and coordination of effort. Monitors through to completion and evaluates the quality of work performed.

 

Acts as a liason between cyber security and other Data Systems departments to resolve complex, security-related IS problems.

 

Acts as a liason between cyber security and other Data Systems departments to ensure that  information systems equipment maintains conformity to cyber security policies and procedures during configuration changes.

 

Performs configuration changes and quality control of cyber security systems to reduce outages and functional problems.

 

Proposes, evaluates and participates in the procurement process for cyber security hardware and software. 

 

Troubleshoots/diagnoses, resolves problems related to information systems security.

 

Performs configuration management functions for all cyber security resources by maintaining network drawing and documentation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Requires a bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent plus 4 years related work experience and a minimum of five years experience in data processing; or a minimum of 3 years specific experience in cyber security-related technologies and an industry recognized security certification such as CISSP or GSEC in lieu of degree.  Required experience should include workgroup management in a task-oriented environment, a minimum of one year experience in computer security, and procedure development and project management.  Excellent written communication skills required. Microsoft and/or cyber security-related certifications a plus.  This position requires that the incumbent maintain a security clearance.
