Sr.  Database Administrator

OpenMarket is in the midst of a transition to a Services-Oriented Architecture and new data warehouse. A Senior MySQL DBA is sought to work with Product, Engineering, and Operations on requirements, design, development, and on-going operations of the MySQL facets of these services. This includes working with SW Development Engineers on database schema and queries; installing, configuring, upgrading and monitoring the MySQL environments as appropriate, as well as providing overall leadership and expertise to the organization on how best to leverage the MySQL DBMS and related tools and utilities for our development, test and production needs. The Senior MySQL DBA is also responsible for participating in cross-functional project efforts and for thoroughly documenting appropriate procedures for all internal customer groups that actively utilize our MySQL capabilities.

Major Responsibilities: Design and implementation of the database aspects of software services Design and implementation of the MySQL facets of the new DWH Installations and upgrades related to above Security Monitoring and tuning Backup Security Troubleshooting Query optimizations

Essential Skills/Qualifications: 5+ years of DBA experience in the following areas: Experience with MySQL 5.0 and later. Installing, configuring and upgrading MySQL database, primarily in Linux environments. Experience with working on High availability and High throughput Production environments and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with replication and clustering Designing and managing tables, indexes, stored procedures, partitions, snapshots and their logs, etc. Experience in creating data warehouses, including data extracts, summary tables, de-normalization, etc. Linux scripting and cron Working with Java engineers on database design, query optimization, and migration strategies Interacting with SQL Server and Oracle databases

Able to define project scope and lead cross-functional teams when required.

Education/Training Required: BS/BA in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience required. Position is located in Seattle, WA
