Sr. Data Warehouse Analyst - Business Analyst

 POSITION PURPOSE:

With limited supervision, gather and document requirements, create logical designs, and develop reporting solutions in support of the Data Warehouse.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Business Area Support

· Develop a basic knowledge of the assigned functional area(s) of the company.

· Lead/ facilitate design sessions with key users and other IS staff

· Capture, collect and manage business metadata

 

Analysis and Design

· Develop and manage logical data models that fulfill functional requirements and conform to the organization’s data architecture for the Data Warehouse.

· Analyze, refine and document functional requirements for DSS projects

· Analyze and design moderate to complex applications with limited work direction.

· Participate in overall solution design of system being implemented to support company's
business.

 

Program Design, Programming and Documentation

· Develop specifications for moderately complex programs.

· Code and test program modifications.

· Development of business intelligence tools and analytic applications to enable end users access and analyze data in the data warehouse and multidimensional data marts

· Prepare and execute test cases.

 

Implementation, Training and Ongoing Support

· Ensure high quality and timely implementation of system changes.

· Direct system users in the proper utilization of the system when requested.

· Provides mentorship and structured training to business area "power users" and assists in the process of turning data into actionable information. Troubleshoot and resolve difficult system problems.

· Research and respond to client’s questions and problems in a timely manner.




Other Responsibilities:   · Mentor other developers through hands on experience

· Meet project schedules and other timelines.

· Perform task estimating and status reporting activities.

· Keep management informed of critical problems, needs and activities.

· Perform other tasks as assigned.





REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

1.  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information systems or related field.

2.  Must work well in teams and have a strong customer focus.

3.  Must be a strong facilitator; adept at running meetings with business and IT staff, gathering and managing business requirements and understanding business priorities.

4.  Knowledge of relational database concepts including SQL query expertise. Experience with Data Warehouse concepts development of data warehouse design and data load strategies.  Particularly Dimensional modeling and design methods.

5.  Experience and familiarity with OLAP/Analysis Services architecture is a plus.

6.  Working knowledge of medical device manufacturing or healthcare industry is preferred.

7.  Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

8.  Must be available to work outside normal business hours on periodic support and an emergency basis.
