This position requires a Microsoft SQL Server DBA who enjoys working in a dynamic environment implementing state of the art database solutions that meet current and future business needs. Primary daily responsibilities include performing all aspects of database administration including hardware/software evaluations, database installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, applications, and technology platforms, security administration, backup and recovery, capacity planning, performance tuning and SQL optimization, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, development of policies, standards and procedures related to the database environment, and interface development. Utilize SQL or fourth generation languages to perform basic to advance DBA functions. Reviews database design and integrity controls. May be called upon to help develop or rewrite stored procedures and triggers. Monitors transaction activity, system utilization or load levels. Prepare and or reviews status, progress and performance reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the Manager, Database Information Systems will perform the following tasks:
Responsibilities: Provide 24X7 support and maintenance for internal and external SQL databases.Manage and maintain all aspects of SQL2000 and SQL2005 Servers.Design, install, configure, monitor SQL databases.Perform general to advance database related troubleshooting for internal and external SQL databases.Write basic to advance TSQL scripts to manage and maintain databases.Knowledge of DTS and SSIS to prepare data for electronic transmission.Consult with manager or senior staff whenever appropriate.Assist in developing and enhancing programs to support user requirements.Required Skills
Essential Skills:Experience in managing single and multiple SQL instances on stand alone and Clustered Microsoft SQL2000 and SQL2005 Servers.Solid understanding of Microsoft's best practices for SQL Server, the SQL Server Storage Engine and RDBMS.Knowledge related to computer hardware (servers, networks, SAN, RAID devices, I/O subsystems).Solid experience with Operating System, Instance and query performance tuning.Comprehensive knowledge of backup and recovery options, Database mirroring, Replication and Transaction Log shipping.Have experience in supporting web based applications and information systems.Effective communication required with the ability to work in a team environment.Perform all allocated tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
INTERACTION - Continuously interacts with all stakeholders while working to develop new database solutions. Work closely with end-users to obtain comments or information that can be utilized to improve existing database performance or processes. Required Experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education/experience in the computer science field.Minimum 3 years experience within Information Systems. 2-3 years experience with SQL2000 and SQL 2005.2-3 years experience in the following technologies: SQL, T-SQL and Stored Procedures.Knowledge and experience with relational and conventional database technology, data modeling concepts, tools and techniques, and general business operations. Excellent communication skills (written and oral).Knowledge of JAVA, ASP.NET and Oracle highly desirable.
