Sr. Finance Manager

The Global R&D Finance Team is responsible for providing primary finance support for the Billg Corp R&D groups (approx. $1.0B annual spend) and aims to be recognized across Microsoft as the experts of Microsoft’s global R&D spend. The team also has responsibility for revenue analysis associated with business incubations, economic value analysis, data mining and modeling, and partners closely with strategic R&D groups to identify opportunities to build their businesses. Our team supports the Chief Software Architect and Chief Research & Strategy Officer and their direct reports. Businesses include the Microsoft Research, Advanced Strategy, Trustworthy Computing, CTO Business Platforms, Chief Software Architect orgs and new business incubations including those focused on tackling fantastic opportunities in the area of Education and Healthcare Solutions. New business incubations include the creation of end-to-end businesses, which involves acquiring companies, developing and investing in new technologies and creating new business models which will help propel Microsoft’s next phase of innovation and growth. This role will be aligned with the Health Solutions Finance team and will have responsibility for the financial management of the Health Solutions Enterprise business, including: overall accuracy of the Enterprise business P&L (e.g. accurate revenue and cogs recognition in a highly complex business), monthly, quarterly, annual RoB execution, and acquisition integration planning and execution. Detailed responsibilities:Rhythm of the Business:· Drive and coordinate each phase of the RoB process for the HSG Enterprise business, including monthly close, quarterly forecasts, target setting, budgeting, and restatements.· Assist with the administration of the Health Solutions Group Incentive Compensation Plan, including updating plan documents, calculating quarterly RBI payouts, and performing related tasks as needed.· Support the annual Strat Review process.Acquisition Integration:· Plan and execute the integration of HSG enterprise business acquisitions. We recently closed an acquisition in Thailand that will require end-to-end integration of Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report, and Procure-to-Pay activities. Given the international nature of the enterprise business this position will be required to travel as needed to realize integration goals.· Work with DAVA to complete the initial purchase accounting entries.· Drive the restatement of acquisitions into budget.· Completion/coordination of related integration activities, such as scorecard completion and monitoring, annual acquisition reviews, etc.Accounting Policies:· The HSG Enterprise business is dealing with several complex accounting issues. We need someone who can become our subject matter expert with respect to these issues, and advise the business on the implications of proposed customer contract wording and other proposed business changes. This will include working with Corporate Accounting and doing independent research.· Ad hoc projects as assigned.
