The Senior Industry Manager, Public Sector will be responsible for the marketing strategy, messaging and go-to-market execution for Akamai in the Public Sector industry. This integral member of the Global Marketing team will work with customers, resellers and Akamai personnel to identify growth opportunities in the Public Sector customer verticals and effectively position the Akamai portfolio to Public Sector companies. This role requires strong business and marketing fundamentals, the ability to indirectly manage resources towards marketing milestones and goals, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a sound understanding of Internet technology. The ideal candidate will have a sound and proven understanding of Internet infrastructure as well as expertise in packaging and positioning products to Public Sector organizations (Federal, State, Local Government Agencies). In addition to furthering the reach of Akamai’s existing solutions for the Public Sector market, the Industry Manager will be responsible for identifying new and innovative solutions built on the Akamai platform and driving growth through these new solutions. The Senior Industry Manager, Public Sector will: * Drive the overall positioning and go to market strategy for Akamai in the Public Sector customer segment * Define and package the Akamai’s relevant product offerings for the industry. * Work closely with customers, resellers and Akamai's professional services, sales force and customer service to identify market requirements (creating market assessments and requirements) and working with product management to build out the road map. * Through industry expertise and customer interaction, identify new opportunities and use cases to sell Akamai products to the Public Sector industry. * Work closely with global marketing, sales and customer service to communicate new Public Sector use cases and messaging to customers and resellers. * Establish relationships with potential reseller channels and technology partners (ISVs) to enhance the service and increase its adoption by customers. * Work with marketing communications to define and drive the go-to-market and promotion plan. * Create messaging, literature and sales tools promoting features, benefits and competitive advantages of Akamai in Public Sector (whitepapers, ROI tools, brochures, Web content, customer presentations). * Serve as the Public Sector industry expert to the field and management team, including product sales training, sales escalations, and industry evangelism at trade shows and events. * Remain current on relevant Public Sector industry issues, market trends, standards and emerging technologies through primary and secondary research. * 5-8 years of experience in the Public Sector vertical, with product management, product marketing and/or industry marketing with a minimum of 2-3 years in Internet infrastructure or services * MBA preferred; Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences degree required * Must posses excellent written communication skills * Demonstrable experience in processes for bringing new products or services to market (with and without channel partners) * Ability to perform primary market research and synthesize the results of that research into actionable plans for Akamai * Strong knowledge of the Public Sector industry fundamentals pertaining to IT (uses of the web, enterprise applications, etc.) * Demonstrable Powerpoint, Word and Excel familiarity * Must be highly self-motivated and self-sufficient Other Information * Is relocation available for this position: No * Is US Citizenship required: No * Is a Security Clearance Required: No If yes, applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation & must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
