Sr. MTS - Platform Engineer - Guest Components

VMware, leader in virtualization software, is looking for a hands-on senior software lead engineer who will be responsible for guest OS related software development and enhancements that affect all of VMware's products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will help conceive and architect the next generation features that will continue to allow VMware to have a strong hold on virtualization and take it to the next level of customer experience using Virtual Machine (VM) environments for their critical business and/or personal needs. He/She will contribute to design solutions end-to-end for data center environments using existing and emerging technologies like para-virtualization, virtual operating environments and virtual appliances that will allow VMware to make the world a bit more "virtual". He/She will also contribute to development of the communication APIs in addition to file and data sharing primitives between virtual machines and other nodes in the virtual infrastructure to enhance the virtual ecosystem that VMware is creating.

REQUIREMENTS:
*Bachelor's degree in CS or Math, preferably from a top-tier school (Master's degree preferred)
*5+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in a technical leadership role providing guidance to junior team members.
*Demonstrated industry experience implementing features end-to-end and providing market defining solutions.
*Strong programming experience working with C or C++ in a cross-platform environment using Linux and Microsoft technologies.
*Experience with one or more Linux OSes at low-level systems and/or drivers level required. Other Unix experience (Solaris, HP-UX, etc) will be considered.
*Low-level systems and/or drivers experience using Linux and/or Microsoft technologies.
*Good design skills and insight about scalable infrastructure with an eye on customer usability.
*Good teamwork and communication skills are a must as is the ability to work independently and work in a multi-tasking mode.
*Ability to work in a multi-tasking mode is a must as is the ability to work under deadlines.
