Software Engineer dedicated to the development of software for the upstream industry. The group is responsible for developing oil / gas production optimization and forecasting software applications. The job holder will be expected to develop and maintain technical components used in these applications.     

 

·  Working as a member of the development group, the job holder will be responsible for maintaining and supporting mathematical models used in the commercial gas/oil production optimization software, which includes fluid flow and heat transfer in flow lines, hydrocarbon phase behaviour, surface equipments such as chokes, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, etc. The job holder will also be responsible for developing, implementing and testing new mathematical models in the software applications as per the business needs.

·  Ability to manage a technical development project and handle multiple tasks simultaneously including engineering support

·  Ability to understand engineering problems quickly and also to convey mathematical / physical concepts succinctly to petroleum engineers

·  Excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be flexible and a self starter. Able to work both collaboratively, as well as with little  supervision. Able to work in an inter-disciplinary team. Willingness and ability to learn new technology. The candidate will be expected to follow a development path to gain more knowledge about the company’s other products and solutions.

·  Play a lead role in developing new software for the oil and gas industry including real time systems, using the latest software development tools.

 

Skills and Knowledge

RequiredHigher degree (MSc or PhD) in Petroleum, Chemical or Process Engineering, Physics or Mathematics     Seven (Five for PhD) or more years of experience working on mathematical modelling / simulation in a commercial software environment Fluent in Fortran, C and  VB (Minimum 2 years experience)Good knowledge of Windows XP / 2000 development environment and Microsoft Office applications  

 

Desirable

 

·  Petroleum, Chemical or Process engineering experience

· Knowledge of oil and gas production operations including commercial production optimisation and/or process simulators

• C++ and Microsoft .NET technology (C#, VB.NET) experience
