Senior Software Engineer/Architect - User Interface/Framework

This enterprise software company is seeking a senior level engineer/architect to provide leadership in UI Architecture. As a member of the "foundations team", this role will be involved in creating, extending, improving and advancing their customized UI framework (similar to struts and JSF). This framework is used by many different development groups worldwide that build their commercial software products. Not only will you be a hands-on engineer, you'll also champion this framework within the company.  This position is located in Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities:Provide leadership in UI Architectures for existing J2EE Web ApplicationDefine future direction of UI Framework as well as responsible for design and implementation of itLead and/or contribute to other foundation projects such as other frameworks and common servicesTranslate business requirements into technical specifications and designsProvide technical advice to less experience software engineers as well as other teams

Qualifications:Prior experience in architecting and implementing web application frameworks is required.  At the minimum need to be an expert on using existing J2EE web frameworks such as Struts, JSF, etc.A minimum of 6 years experience as a senior software engineer in web applications development.  Preferable someone who has a few years as UI Framework Architect.Hands-on development experience as well as be proficient in Web Application technologies including CSS, JavaScript, HTML and DHTML with at least 4 years of experience in this area.

· Extensive development experience with Java Platform technologies. This should include experience with JSP, Java Servlets, Applet, and familiarity with EJB and SQL.

· Must have experience using UI Frameworks just as Struts and JSF; preferable someone who also has experience building UI Framework for Web Applications.

· Expertise in framework design and writing framework documentation is required.

· Significant experience in software architecture and object oriented design.

· Have understanding and experience with full software development lifecycles including functional specification, design documents, QA processes, maintenance and deployment.

· Strong requirements gathering and analytical skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Must be a team player and a quick learner.

· Experience being a product leader is also a big plus.Experience in Java GUI development and Java Applets using Swing is a big plus.Experience in one or more of the following technologies is a big plus:

 o  Swing and Applet

o  AJAX

o  XML and XSLT

o  Flash

o  WebLogic server

o  Ant, Maven, Cruise Control

o  Heterogeneous computing environments (Windows Server, Linux, UNIX)

 

· MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical engineering degree.
