Sr. Software Engineer - Installation (0809-14)

To maintain, analyze, design, program, debug and modify installers and utilities for our Customer Care and billing systems. Work according to the practices and processes set by the organization. Design installers, complete development and perform testing and debugging. Complete documentation and give input to improve procedures for installation, development and maintenance processes.

Primary responsibility is focused on new development and maintenance work related to existing and future installers. This involves everything from minor code changes to architecture and design of new installers, including design, development, debugging, testing and documentation. As a senior level position, duties may also include an architecture, design, and team leadership role.

In all cases, the individual is a team player that is driven, willing to take initiative, responsible and eager to learn.

Responsibilities include:

-     Taking “ownership” of the Enterprise Installer

-     Providing installer support to our customer base (both external and internal)

-     Become an expert on the deployment of all tiers of our enterprise application.

-     Architecting, Designing, and developing new installers as needed

-     Adhering to and enforcing the processes and standards defined by the Engineering Department

-     Leading engineering tasks/efforts as needed

-     Work in a cross-functional team environment and acting as the engineering interface as needed with other project team members including Product Management, QA, Docs, Client Services.

 Required Skills



Minimum requirements include:

-     Exposure to Agile processes

-     College Degree in Computer Science

-     5 years development experience of commercial/enterprise business systems with Microsoft technologies

-     3 years commercial development experience with InstallShield

-     3 years practical experience as a technical-lead/team-lead

-     2 years experience with InstallShield.

-     2 years experience creating flexible product grade deployment packages.

-     Experience deploying enterprise software onto scalable Windows Server hardware platforms including web farms.

Additional, ideal requirements include:

-     3 years experience with C# and .NET Framework writing utilities and custom actions

-     Experience with Customer care and billing applications

-     3 years commercial experience developing n-tier applications

-     Thorough knowledge of Oracle (7, 8i, 9i, and 10g) and PL/SQL

-     3 years commercial development experience with Visual C++

-     Experience with TCP/IP, HTML, SOAP

-     Experience with Microsoft IIS, ASP.NET, AJAX

-     Experience with MSMQ

-     Experience with Configuration Management processes and tools

-     Experience with TFS and incident tracking tools
