BASIC PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:We are looking for highly skilled, highly motivated team players who want to make a real difference! Our development philosophy is to assemble small agile teams of about 5 people, consisting of individuals with strong skill sets and a team player attitude. The team’s primary responsibilities are around centralized data management, receiving and sending medical data and information, managing the database, and providing services for consumption by connected client applications. Your job will require excellent technical expertise and experience in building server backend software components. Deliverables will need to satisfy high expectations with respect to Quality, Uptime, Reliability, Serviceability, and last but not least Testability. An ideal candidate would bring strong technical skills, domain expertise and experience, and be an excellent team player. In addition, you would be a strong communicator with good analytical skills who is looking for the ultimate next (team) challenge.

OVERALL OUTPUTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and develop software components in a team environment. You will be an active participant in design reviews, write unit tests and code, perform software reviews, and collaborate with testers on your team to ensure appropriate testing is performed, exceeding quality expectations. As needed, coordinate efforts with members of other teams which are consuming the server backend services you are delivering. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to: Manger, Server Solutions Group CONTACTS:Internal: All Employees of Vital ImagesExternal: Partners and Vendors



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent. 5+ Years experience in C++ development. 5+ Years experience in successfully building reliable server side software components. 3+ Years experience in C# / .Net development. 2+ Years experience in database development, preferably SQL Server 2005.

SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Proven track record of being a strong team player. Demonstrated initiative and analytical thinking style. A positive and result-focused “can-do” attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with distributed systems. Experience with multiple-tier applications. Extensive experience with performance tuning. Strong experience with multi-threaded development. Knowledge of UML modeling, design patterns, and software architecture. Experience using Visual Studio 2005. Experience with software unit testing. Experience with .NET, WCF, and / or WF would be a plus. Experience with Windows Services. Experience with agile software development methodologies, e.g. SCRUM, working in teams where test is an integral part of the deliver process. Medical imaging domain knowledge such as DICOM or HL7. Solid software engineering background and software life cycle experience. Experience with developing government-regulated software systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. No unusual physical requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours can vary and expand as dictated by project demands.
