Sr. Software Engineer in Test

Job Summary: 

Varolii is looking for a dynamic QA professional to serve as a Software Engineer in Test, Sr. (SET) for our Customer Communications product line in Seattle, WA.  This position requires close interaction with the Development team, QA team, and other internal groups.

The SET, Sr. is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, executing and reporting results from automated test scripts.  They will evaluate, recommend and implement automated test tools and strategies.  The Engineer identifies problems, investigates those issues and works with the appropriate teams to resolve those issues.  They understand the product architecture and requirements from a customer perspective in order to construct tests that identify risk.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Primary Responsibilities:  Develop comprehensive test plans from engineering discussions and functional specificationsEvaluate and recommend and implement test automation strategies and tools/methodsDesign and Develop automated test scripts Investigate test failuresWrites, implements, and reports status for automated testing.Defect reporting and tracking

 

Relevant Knowledge and Skills: 

 Very strong development, testing and process skillsKnowledge of QA principles and practical application of those principlesExcellent communications and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize and remain focused in a dynamic, fast paced environmentAbility to work on multiple simultaneous projectsPerl, Ruby, Java, JUnit or equivalent scripting languagesTest tool  scripting experience

· SOAP / API test experience a plus

· Strong working familiarity with Java applications, Oracle databases, and Unix environmentsWorking knowledge of SQLWorking knowledge of XML

 

Education / Experience:

· B.S. Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics or commensurate experience

· QA/Test Experience (5+ years)

· Test automation experience with GUI and non-GUI applications

· Experience with building automation capabilities from scratch a plus
