JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Vice President of Technology, provide unit technical direction in designing and implementing software and system level machine vision products.  Acts in a technical capacity providing technical supervision and direct implementation of real-time software and system level programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
1. Design and implement imaging software for relative/embedded OS and Windows XP
2. Implement both realtime OS and application software for industrial and scientific imaging products
3. Conceptualize and architect system level real-time machine vision system. Strength in software architecture and system level design
4. Handle source control. Software tools and other maintenance relating to the above
5. Provide direct supervision to a small group of software and vision system engineers
6. Effectively provide, through individual effort and coordination of the work of others, technical, analytical and creative support on major engineering application and development projects.
7. Using acquired engineering skills and design expertise, conceive and create designs that meet or exceed performance requirements consistent with reliability, function and cost.
8. Recognize, anticipate and define potential problem areas, explore and evaluate their possible impact and generate practical solutions relating them to known and tested engineering principles.
9. Responsible for maintaining a qualified engineering staff. Budget human and capital resources for major product development programs.

EDUCATION:
Master's Degree in Computer Science, electrical Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year in Realtime UNIX environment, Object Oriented Programming, PCI Platform, Windows-XP and real-time vision and scientific imaging applications.  Experience in directing and managing the work efforts of other software vision system Engineers.  Experience in SQL database systems and Web Server applications is desireable. Posses a participative management style.

SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of 'C++' and machine vision systems, written and verbal skills commensurate with the position.  Good leadership and supervisory skills essential.
