DescriptionCoordinates the production of technical user publications, providing continuity over time for serial versions and legacy documentation of software product version differences Work closely with software designers, developers, and client service representatives to create and maintain on-line help systems, printed users guides, release notes, and various training materials Gathers topic information, prepares written text and coordinates layout and publication specifications, incorporating work produced by other technical writers Trains and coordinates the work of lower-level technical writers Serves as additional QA audit check point by ensuring that application functions as documented Maintain, update, & add functionality to existing websites Participate in the software design process Researches drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications Provides highest-level individual contributor expertise in advanced technical writing projects
Required SkillsRequires a four-year Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Communications or equivalent training/experience Minimum three years work experience as an IT Technical Writer, producing technical publications and user guides and proposals Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop publishing software, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, including writing macros and using various shortcuts and versioning software Ability to coordinate the production of technical publications and to express technical IT concepts and language accessible to non-technical readers Knowledge of information technology from a writer/editor's viewpoint In-depth knowledge and proficiency with standard English Strong technical, analytical, and verbal skills Experience with XML, HTML or other markup languages Must have experience with Dreamweaver Software or similar tool for on-line help systems Experience with Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro required Experience with the following is a plus: Microsoft Office, RoboHelp, ForeHelp, PageMaker, FrameMaker Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments simultaneously Ability to develop an on-line help system Experience or formal training in Logic, Computer Science, or other analytic discipline is helpful
