Sr. Technical Writer, Technical Publications

Macrovision is seeking a strong, experienced technical writer to help document one of its flagship products. As part of our Technical Publications team, you will create and edit technical documentation, including online help, inline help, user guides, developer guides, APIs, release notes, tutorials, user interface text, and error messages. By joining our Technical Publications team, you will work directly with product development teams, drive the scope and direction of documentation deliverables, ensure technical accuracy, and maintain documentation standards. You will also work with product teams and technical and training writers to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy in end-user technical documentation and training manuals.

To be successful, you must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on accuracy, quality, and clarity. Solid problem-solving skills, a passion for technology, strong attention to detail, and superior organizational and project management skills are required. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and have worked in a complete software development product cycle. You should have a team-oriented attitude, be customer-focused, have a knack for tracking down information and communicating it to a wide audience, and be interested in contributing to the overall direction for the next generation of Macrovision products.

 

Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science or B.A. in English, Communication, Technical Writing, or applicable degree
- 8+ years documentation experience

 

Skills
- 5+ years of experience using Framemaker, Webworks, and Web-based help systems
- Specialize in solution-based documentation and multimedia documentation solutions
- 5+ years of experience working with software development teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail and writing standards
- Experience documenting APIs
- Experience using Java, C++, object-oriented languages, and scripting beneficial
- Comply with software development standards and practices; writing adheres to company style guide
