Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator

The NYISO has an opening in our Infrastructure Support department for a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator to handle UNIX administration in an Enterprise Computing Environment.Responsibilities include:Administer UNIX operating systems; Configure multiple hosts and servers; Create and maintain system script to include shells, Tk and Perl.Participate on the IT on-call rotation and after-hours support to internal clients 24/7.Run projects independently and have high visibility with other staff and departments.Act as department liaison for meetings, work groups, and committees.Experience/Skills:* 7-10 years of related experience as a systems administrator of multiple UNIX-based systems, including SUN/Solaris and HP/HP-UX or IBM/AIX.* Experience in highly available systems and RAID configurations* Experience performing software configuration management process and procedures* Performance monitoring and tuning. * Advanced proficiency in UNIX OS including System V and BSD. * Intermediate competency in Windows client operating environment using MS Office applications, and e-mail and Internet programs. Also requires knowledge of:* Server clustering technologies* Complex Filesystem Administration* Storage area networking* Secure networking concepts* Volume management software* Hardware administration and support* System backup software including Veritas Netbackup* Enterprise Level Monitoring* LINUX experience helpfulEquivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.Education: Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science or Information Systems
