Staff Software Engineer

Position Description:

This position is independently responsible for major portions of complex projects.Specifically, the Staff Engineer is a key member of the Molecular Imaging (MI) team responsible for technical software engineering development efforts for embedded software, graphical user interfaces, and object oriented systems. The successful candidate will participate in the development, release, and maintenance of MI products and may support multiple efforts simultaneously. The successful candidate must also be able to interact with, coordinate, and provide technical leadership to outsourced design partners and contractors. Assignments for this position require creativity, excellent problem solving ability, high performance orientation, and a focus on technical excellence. The Staff Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all software design activities comply with MEDRAD’s CT Product Development Process. He or she must have an orientation for details so as to avoid problems that will compromise project deliverables and achievement of MI program objectives. Primary Responsibilities:1. Deliver products that are commensurate with MEDRAD’s quality standards, including design control requirements, and that are on- time and within budget.2. Integrate software development efforts with other engineering disciplines on the project team.3. Provide expert technical guidance to outsourced design partners and contractors.4. Identify technical risks and provide methods to mitigate them.5. Provide technical input to Project Management for creation of budgets and schedules.6. Provide status and reporting to Project Management.7. Serve as a technical resource within the project team and provide expert software technical input in design reviews.8. Defines requirements for design elements at the module level.9. Responsible for design and integration of high complexity design elements and modules.10. Applies understanding of product line and clinical applications to develop product or process functionality. 11. Interacts with multiple customer groups including end-users.12. Understands interdependencies of processes required to accomplish individual and team objectives.Technical / Behavioral Requirements: 1. Proven record working with mulitple external development partners to achieve successful results.2. Experience with best practice processes, such as CMMI, preferred.3. Experience in an ISO 13485-registered company preferred. Experience with ISO 9001-registered organization minimally required.4. Recommended 7+ years experience and recognized as an expert within a technical discipline, with knowledge across breadth of discipline and significant depth in one or more technical specialties.5. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree recommended. 6. Proven to have general engineering knowledge crossing into other technical disciplines.7. Proven ability to demonstrate skill in both analysis of complex problems and synthesis of solutions.8. Proven ability to uses a blend of theoretical and experimental concepts for solutions.9. Proven ability to demonstrate excellent judgment in technical trade-offs and analyses.10. Working knowledge and proven skills of PC computer operating system including Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).11. Strong competency in Customer Focus, Driving for Results, Integrity and Trust, Ethics and Values and Compassion. 12. Proven ability to demonstrate at minimum, MEDRAD’s Supervisor competencies: Decision Quality, Developing Direct Repots, Motivating Others, Managerial Courage and Business Acumen.
