Position Summary

The Systems Engineer will design and define software solutions and requirements for Tapestry Solutions Inc.’s very large, complex software applications. This position serves as a liaison between customers, the Software Development Team and other Tapestry organizations to capture customer requirements and transpose them into functional software solutions and specifications.

 

Primary Job FunctionsBuild or extract requirements from external customers, internal resources, contracts and proposals and translate these into effective software solutions and written requirements.Collaborate effectively with and influence customers, peers, software architects, developers and managers to solve complex problems spanning many work groups.Provide functional expertise in the software requirements domain, including ensuring quality deliverables such as User Requirements and Software Specification documents. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or ExperienceMinimum 5-10 years of software development/systems design/requirements experience.Experience in design, programming and testing with C#, C, C++, Java and other Object-Oriented programming languages or experience supporting such efforts.B.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree focus. Advanced degree preferred. Previous experience in a defense contractor, military or government environment is highly desired, with U.S. Army experience preferred.Experience with simulations, analytical and operations-monitoring program solutions that include a variety of platforms, programming languages, and complex interrelationships with external customer, military and government applications and architectures is desired.

 

Skills and AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.Solid multi-tier architectural background and a sophisticated understanding of, and experience with, major applications development efforts. A thorough understanding of all information technology concepts including database concepts and structures, software application development techniques, programming and testing best practices. Excellent technical communications and writing skills, including the ability to write clear and concise requirements, design and project documents.
